Antonio Lara
Tertenia 1886 - Villaputzu 1979
His father Giuseppino, contemporary of Antioco
Cabras and of Agostino Vacca, was his teacher since Antonio was
a child. After, he took lessons from Giuanniccu Cabras. Bentzon
in his publication says: " The Village of Villaputzu in Sarrabus,
has been, during the last years, the centre for the professional
performers of launeddas. There I knew the old master Antonio Lara
who became my main informer about launeddas professional music.Recorded
piece that can be listened to: polka (fiuda bagadia). Interesting
example of an imported dance, which was included by the performers
in the autochthonous repertory, conforming to the changed social
situation, which introduced, expecially after the First World
War, new fashions and musical tastes.
