
Sant'Ignazio da Laconi
(1701-1781)
St. Ignazio da Laconi was born in Laconi, Sardinia, December 17th 1701.
His parents, Mattia Peis and Anna Maria Sanna, called him Francesco.
From the time he was a child he distinguished himself by his innocence and
devotion, to a degree that he was called «il Santarello».
He became a Capuchin Lay Brother in November 10th 1721 and spent 60 years
of his religious life in penance, humility and charity.
He was able to see into peoples souls, and by his intercession many people
obtained miracles.
He lived in Cagliari for 40 years, doing good for everybody. He died on
May 11th 1781.
Pio XII declared him a Saint in October 1951.
