This is an old busy city with a ferry port. It is one of the biggest tourist and commercial centres in
Gallura. In its centre there is the very beautiful Romanesque church of San Simplicio from the XI-XII
centuries. It has many large gravestones. There is also an interesting Necropolis with numerous tombs. In
the
surrounding area there is the Lido del Sole, the Nuragic Sanctuary of Cabu Abbas and San Pantaleo, and the
sacred well of Sa Testa. The evocative Tavolara Island can be seen from the town.
